2023: Quarterbacks

Bryce Young-QB-Alabama-5’10”-204-Top 3-98

This kid has been an absolute stud since high school where he set all the records in California, which is a big deal. Tremendous feel for the game, never rushed, can buy time as needed. The size is an obvious issue, but he finds his throwing windows and anticipates at an elite level. He’s regarded as a leader, and nearly aced the cognitive tests. If he was 6’3” 220, he’d be one of the 5 best prospects I’ve ever seen. His floor is Kyler Murray, his ceiling is near Drew Brees. That’s worth number 1 overall.

C.J. Stroud-QB-Ohio State-6’3”-214-Top 20-94

Tape against Georgia is fantastic. He handled pressure better in that game than any other, the gameplan really helped with that. Reportedly he isn’t the easiest player to coach. Has all the physical tools. The worry is coming out of Ohio State, playing with 4+ first round receivers in a quarterback friendly offense. Will he be the QB to break through for Ohio State? Reminds me a lot of Geno Smith and Sam Bradford, supreme arm talent for a college prospect, but questions about how it translates.

Anthony Richardson-QB-Florida-6’4”-244-1st-92

Phenomenal specimen, but slow to process, and serious accuracy concerns. Was not featured as much as a runner as you would expect, like Cam Newton was. But he has the same issues Josh Allen did, although Allen had more incredible throws in college. Everyone raved about Josh Allen’s personality, I haven’t heard the same about Richardson. He needs plenty of time to develop, improve his recognition and processing speed, and also needs to add a change-up. But you cannot deny the upside which makes him worth a 1st rounder, even if it never goes anywhere.

Hendon Hooker-QB-Tennessee-6’3”-217-1st/2nd-83

People love this guy, rave about him like he’s Jacoby Brissett, so I expect him to be in the league a long time. I don’t see the upside, like not even Kirk Cousins level of play. That being said, a steady presence at quarterback is valuable, and I’d rather have Hooker in the building over Levis.

Will Levis-QB-Kentucky-6’4”-229-Top 15-81

He is Drew Lock.
