2023: Front 7 Defenders

Jalen Carter-DT-Georgia-6’3”-314-Top 10-98

Absolute freak, best defensive player in the draft, reminds me of Gerald McCoy. Off-field questions are the problem, but on the field he is elite and would go 2nd overall without the questions.

Tyree Wison-EDGE-Texas Tech-6’6”-271-Top 15-97

Tremendous size for the position, he needs to play with consistent leverage. He has outstanding burst for his size and has potential to be a game wrecker. Tyree will be a 23 year old rookie, but he is still growing into his frame and learning his game. If he works at it, he can be Chandler Jones.

Will Anderson-EDGE-Alabama-6’4”-253-Top 10-93

Thought he was a no brainer, but don’t see the pop in his game. He posted a 1.6 in the 10 yard split which matches the film. Anderson, Will still will be productive, but more Bud Dupree than T.J. Watt. Tamper hopes when he gets drafted in the top ten

Jack Campbell-LB-Iowa-6’5”-249-2nd Day-85

Fifteen years ago, Jack might be a top 15 pick. He has good feel, good hips, and tested faster than he plays with a 4.65 in the 40. Campbell will struggle in coverage and won’t make your defense faster, but he can give you an identity.

Nolan Smith-EDGE-Georgia-6’2”-238-2nd Day-79

Number 1 overall recruit out of high school. Top notch athlete running an insane 4.39 in the 40 and jumping 41 inches. Certainly has burst and speed off the edge but has narrow hips and I don’t see lateral movement ability. Would like a lower center of gravity to complete pass rush if the speed rush doesn’t get home. Won’t reach Josh Uche level of play which moves him to the 3rd for me.
