2010 NFL Draft: Tackles
Russell Okung—Ok St—6’5”-307—top 5—Easily the safest pick at the position. This guy has the length and athleticism to play LT in the NFL. Williams and Davis have more upside but Okung will be a stalwart at LT for a while. Doesn’t look pretty when he moves but he moves well and will be able to hold up good pass rushers. Will likely not be an elite LT but he also will not be a bust. Look for him to be the first one off the board for that reason, btw wicked long arms
Anthony Davis—Rutgers--6’5”-323—top 20—Somebody I think people will look back on and wonder why a few OT’s came off the board before him. Yes he has had some off the field issues, but this guys talent is undeniable. He’s the biggest elite LT prospect in the draft and probably has the best feet too. The man has the ability to line up any rusher and simply neutralize him. He isn’t as mean in the run game as I would like, but his size and athletic ability will at least allow him to be a shield blocker. One of those guys I wanna know how good he’s gonna be in 3 years
Trent Williams—Okla--6’5”-315—top 15—Played both T spots in college but mostly RT. People seem to be very high on him but I feel he is a bit of a projection at LT. The meanest of the top T’s and no coincidence is the best run blocker. I believe this is also a trait reserved more for RT’s. He will go top 10 and I think that’s a bit high to draft a RT especially since ppl think he is gonna be a LT
Bryan Bulaga—Iowa--6’5”-314—top 20—He jumped off the screen to me at the combine. He executed all the drills with precision and looked to never be leaning or unbalanced in anyway. The tape looks pretty different though, Brandon Graham lit him up pretty good. I believe he will find a home at RT, his arms are a little short and his backpedal a little too slow for LT, but he will not be a bust, this guy will starting in the NFL for 10 years and will be productive
Charles Brown—USC—6’5”-303—late 1st-2nd—Hated him when I watched him at the combine, felt his hips were stiff and technique was weak, but watching the film he looks great. Great footwork in pass protection, the ex-TE has plenty of athletic ability. First team All-american and Morris trophy winner for best o-lineman in college, the man can flat out play and I think he is a tremendous pick in the 20’s, he’d look nice in Green and yellow to the cheeseheads, reminds me of Jason Smith without run blocking mean streak
Rodger Saffold—Indiana—6’4”-316—late 1st-2nd—Some people think he might go at the end of the 1st but that would be an absolute reach. He is definitely a RT and anyone who drafts him as a LT will be disappointed and will have to spend more money and another 1st rounder on a true LT. As a right tackle though he is a terrific player, isn’t gonna shock and awe but hes the type of player whose name youll never hear during the game which means he’s quietly getting his job done, I like him in the 2nd like Eben Britton last year
Bruce Campbell—Maryland—6’6”-314—2nd day—Everyone saw him at the combine with his 4.8 speed and 30 reps but the fact of the matter is he is a middle round prospect at best. He is a big time project if you wanna plug him in at LT and will take at least a year. He looks lost a lot of the time and even though his technique looks great in gym shorts it looks shitty on the tape. Somebody is gonna take him too high and if the Raiders do at 8 I will literally shit myself laughing
Vlad Ducasse—Umass—6’4”-332—Very very raw, people love his measurables and the athleticism he achieves with them. Better run blocker than pass protector (Brandon Graham made him look silly at the Senior Bowl) he has the size to be a mauler which is why he might end up at guard. Plays on his toes in pass protection and is the type of prospect that wont play for at least a year. Has the size the Cowboys like, but is a project so they might not be up to it
Tony Washington—Albilene Christian—6’6”-310—mid rounds—Loved him at the combine, thought he was the most athletic guy I saw, and his balance was terrific. He is a bit of a project, but if he weren’t, with his measurables, he’d be a top 15 pick. Btw he may have banged his sister, but does that make him a bad blocker?
